Polar to rectangular conversion objects

Postby Jan Huewel » Sun May 24, 2009 11:08 pm

These objects are designed to convert 4:3 disc or polar textures to a 2:1 spherical map.

The resulting planar objects show 3 copies of the map, allowing variable softedge blend zones for dome or spherical projection.

The 1:1 objects are for square textures such as 1024x1024, 2048x2048, 4096x4096, etc,...
The 4:3 objects will unfold a center circular image from any 4:3 file such as 1024x768, 1400x1050, 1600x1200, etc ...
The 16:9 objects will unfold a center circular image from any 16:9 file such as 1280x 720, 1920x1080, etc ...

The front and rear difference is depending on the projection setup, use the front for front projection and rear for rear projection (just in case the projectors were not setup this way or cannot be setup this way)

Besides the fact that these are very usefull tools to map regular planar images to spheres the objects also lead to nice image effets that can be very well combined with motion tiling,...

Please Note: The objects use very high poly counts (49152) depending on your hardware genereation this might affect your performance sooner than later, meaning you might be able to deal with less layers at the same time.
