ReMapping Video pixels via the Matrix Patcher

Postby Markus Zeppenfeld » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:19 am

Hi there,

Pandoras Box is featuring a new Pixel Re-Mapping FX for creative alignement of LED Video Tiles with the Matrix Patcher since Rev6799.
Most LED Video Processors are capable of creating only horizontal and vertical layouts for the video tile alignment. As soon as any of the tiles is rotated in any different angle, content mapping can be very difficult to setup.

With the new Patch and Map function in Matrix Patcher you can first of all create Video Tiles instead of DMX Fixtures

Then you can use the Matrix Patch View (New Drop Down Control can be found in the main menu bar) to create the same mapping and alignment as the LED Video Processor

Once this setup is done you can switch to the Map View and relocate and orient the individual Tiles in any way you like.

Once this setup is done all you need to do is store this mapping into a map file (.png) and load it into a ReMap FX on the output of any Pandoras Box Playback System.
The map file basically re-maps any individual pixel of the entire output. The map file stores for each pixel a new location.
Now all Pixels will be routed to the designated Video Processor Alignment.

The new ReMap FX will is available with Matrix Patcher (Rev 21).

Have fun and be creative with this new feature.

Hi,
please do not forget the following two important steps

first of all choose the correct output resolution in the Matrix Patcher when setting up the map- by default it is 1024x768. The map needs to have the same resolution as you will have later on the Pandoras Box output

Secondly, after creating the map, exporting it and loading the png into Pandoras Box make sure anisotropic filtering is turned OFF
