Talking to a Grass Valley TURBO 2 IDDR

Postby Djools » Wed Jun 05, 2013 8:02 pm

Hello to all of the team,

I am actually trying to control with the Widget Designer STD a Grass Valley TURBO 2 IDDR.
Two methods to remote control that device : Ethernet with AMP Protocol or BVW by RS422.
I've set a IP adress to the device, connected by ethernet, I can ping it, and then I try to send orders. I've seen that the AMP Protocol works by an UDP Connection, port 3811 (reported somewhere as a corrupted data recovery : http://www.corrupteddatarecovery.com/Po ... mp-amp.asp). So in the Connection Manager I try to create an UDP Connection : let the adress 255.255.255.255, then set "0" as Input Port, "3811" as Output Port. And... That's all

For the moment it doesn't work and I just can't find the way to send correct strings, for P1, P2, etc.
Did someone tried to, and achieved, to connect to that device and control it ?
Thanks to all for any help. Best regards,

Djools

Hi,

Three years later, still wondering how to remote a Turbo 2 IDDR
Nobody has ever tried to use it as a slave device on ethernet remote control with Widget Commands ?
I tried to find a way on Grass Valley documentation but didn't make it. I've post on their forum, if I find a way out I will reply here.
Best Regards.

Hi,
it's been a while when i tried to talk to an AJA kumo router,
who was/should support Grass Valley Protocol.
never got it to work,
also had a limited timeframe onsite to play with...

anyway,
those resources might help you,
if so,
please post them here :-)

https://www.aja.com/assets/support/file ... _v3.1r3.pd
in this pdf, you need to go to appendix a, GVG native protocol, there you find a port number, but i have no clue if this is also for the Turbo or not...
i think i got close using usb to serial adapter,
but could never establish it over TCP with the commands given in that manual...

via tcp, i ended up controlling the kumo with http commands...

http://www.grassvalley.jp/pdf/RoutingPr ... nual_2.pdf
this is the grass valley protocol definition in general...

all the best,
Roman

I am able to control the Kumo using info from this thread:

If it's all the same... it should work for you too...
