Interactive floor

Postby colorao » Sat Mar 25, 2017 2:02 am

Hi
I'm working in a interactive floor .
The main idea is have several InfraRed cameras on the ceiling recording the visitors. Then, get them as live inputs and display them all together on the floor . That is : record and display at real time. Then, apply a "Wave Buffer FX" filter on each live input (the blobs) , which generates the water-like effect .
This is a quite big installation so several cameras are needed. All of them should cover the whole floor tiled together, and the water-like effect should seem unlimited..

But I'm facing a problem with this filter:
A user is moving on the floor and generating waves, but when the user get close to the camera border, the waves which should dissapear outside the limits, bounces and get inside the area again.
This "little detail" is getting me crazy because now the surface does not look unlimited...
When placing the cameras together on the floor looks like there is an invisible tiling border inside the water.
Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Also there is a max texture size in settings tab which allows up to 4096x4096.
So I assume this is the max texture size that Coolux can handle individually?

I'd like to "join" all the live inputs together into a one single layer and apply one single FX to that single layer.
Any idea on this?

Thanks all

I don't think you can do this with Players... I have a Server solution, but it sounds like you have Players since your max texture size is only 4k x 4k.

Maybe you could try cropping the edges of the live inputs after the wave effect... That might work to hide the "grid".

Hi Malkuth23

Yes, you're right. I have only a player .
Servers have unlimited texture size?

Regarding to the borders, cropping them could be a way.
But ain't no possibility of merging several video input into a unique single layer and get a unique texture?

Maybe placing all live inputs into a super-big camera, and using a camera texture?
Does it make sense to you?

Thanks

The Texture Size of a Server is limited by the GPU.
I am currently not infront of a server, but I think it was 16k x 16k for a M4000.

You can sort of merge textures using an effect that is available in Servers, but I am pretty sure not in Players.

Try applying the effect to the output rather than the layers.
