Client watchdog

Postby andreax » Sat Oct 14, 2017 3:32 pm

Hi all,
I have an installation where there are 12 projectors connected to 12 PC with Pandoras box client (latest 5 version) controlled by a Manager.
When the projectors are powered off, the PC doesn't "sense" the output anymore and goes into VGA setting causing Pandoras box client to hang.
Is there a way to monitor this hangs (the manager knows that a client is not operative anymore) within the Manager or (better) with an external watchdog so that I can kill it and restart it?
Thanks!

You can see what the health node in WD (if you have WD Pro) reports back and probably use that to re-launch, but the best (or primary) solution should be to put an EDID manager on the outputs so this problem does not happen.

Why not use the same command that turns off the projector to also exit the Client.
You could also use the same commands that turn the projectors back on to start the Client after a delay.

Do you have a Nvidia Quadro Card installed?
If yes you can set a EDID directly in the Nvidia Setup.

I don't have WD Pro

Too bad that this installation is 6 hours far from me :(
I'll keep in mind for the next installation, in the meanwhile...other ideas?

The projector are not software controlled, the customer turns them on and off with the remote

Remote controlled...
So the client has a step to turn on the projectors anyways - perhaps add a step to push a button in WD to start the Clients?
