excel reader / writer

Postby pieterhu » Mon Aug 26, 2013 10:23 pm

Hi,

I'm using WD Pro 4.5 rev489 and need to write some values in an excel file in order to store settings.
I've created an .xls (excel 97-2003) file. However I'm not able to write or read data to or from this file.
I'm running Windows 7 together with Excel 2007. Also tried older versions of WD Pro, but with no result.

Hi,

to use the Excel nodes you need to install Office 2003 or later. (Note that all versions containing "Home" do not work!)

Best regards

klar kann man das ändern. Ich denke ein Anruf bei Microsoft genügt und dann geben die das bestimmt sofort frei,
Spass beiseite. Diese Limitierung ist nicht von uns, sondern von Microsoft.

Just installed Office 365 for Business. Seems that the excel reader / writer is not working with this version. Can someone confirm this? And if so, which version will work. Do we need the complete office package or is the Microsoft Excel product only enough.

Kind regards,

Rogier

Hi Rogier,

You'll need office professional. I've had some issues with rev489 but since the latest release the excel node works fine.

Hi,

There is also an excel Viewer free to download from microsoft. Is it possible to use this for the excel reader node?
I know you can download the framework seperately but is this enough?

Greetings

Hey,

Can you do the following?

  • hold down the Windows Key and press "R", this opens up the "Run" dialog window
  • type appwiz.cpl , and then click OK
  • in the list of installed programs and updates, click any Microsoft Office XXX product, and then click Change
  • select "Add or Remove feature", click next
  • in the list of update options for applications and tools, double-click Excel or click the small "+" sign to reveal the components
  • see if .NET Programmability Support appears to be installed already

I am using Windows 7 64bit with a Office Professional 2010 32bit installation and it says that it is installed (see attached image). What does it say on a Home & Student installation?

Best regards
Dennis
